Fort Jesus Museum, Mombasa Old town and Spice Market
Fort Jesus was built by Portuguese between 1593 and 1596 after being designed by an Italian architect. It is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This iconic coral-stone monument offers a deep dive into the maritime history and centuries-old power struggles of the East African Coast. Mombasa Old town is neighbouring the Fort Jesus Museum and has very old buildings with a very big history. It’s architectural displays a very unique European Renaissance ideals, swahili masonry and Koranic inscriptions added during Arab rule. There is also a spice market within the olds town which as well has a big history about Arabic,swahili and even Indian spices. Other places to visit are like the Elephant tusks monument, Haller Park which has animals like Hippo,giraffes, crocodiles, tortoise, snakes in a cage etc. Nguuni Sanctuary which is also a very perfect place for a picnic and sundowner
