Solia Game Reserve/ The Solio Ranch
Solio
Ranch, also known as Solio Game Reserve, is a privately owned wildlife
sanctuary in Laikipia Kenya. It’s renowned for it’s highly successful black and
white rhino breeding programs. It’s about 180 kilometres north of Nairobi and
occupies 45,000 acres of land housing over 200 Rhinos. Solio Ranch sits in a
picturesque valley directly between the high slopes of Mount Kenya and the
Aberdares Mountains. It’s about 45 kilometres drive south of Nanyuki town. It’s
one of the Premier places in East Africa for viewing Rhinos as herds of up to
40 individuals spotted together. In addition to Rhinos, the conservancy
protects a variety of wildlife including buffalos, zebras, giraffes, elands,
oryx, waterbucks and growing population of Leopards. You can as well use
charter or domestic flights landing at Nanyuki airstrip and a 30-minutes
transfer to Solio Ranch.
