Maasai Mara

The Maasai mara is Kenya’s biggest safari destination covering 1,510 square kilometres in the south West of Kenya. It’s contiguous with the Serengeti in Tanzania. It’s famous for the “Big five” and the great wildebeest migration. The park offers unlimited and unparalleled wildlife viewing. The park is located in Narok county and is as well managed by Narok county and the mara wildlife conservancy. The wildebeest migration which usually occur between the months of July and October is one of the events that you ought not to miss. Millions of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle traverse the mara Serengeti ecosystem crossing the river from Serengeti to Kenya in search of greener pastures. Maasai mara is the home of the “Big Five” namely Lions, leopards,elephants, buffaloes and indigenous black rhinos. Other animals found in mara are cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, different antelope species as well as numerous bird species.
